Why Choose a Sunscreen Spray?

A sunscreen spray makes broad-spectrum protection fast and easy to apply across larger areas of the body. PoolBar’s SPF Clear Sprays go on clear with no white residue, no greasy finish, and no heavy texture, just a clean, even layer of High Protection sun care that works as hard as it looks good.

The formula features avobenzone, octisalate, and octocrylene as the active ingredients for broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. Chemical sunscreen does need to be rubbed in to work, and sprays are no different. Always spray liberally and rub into the skin immediately after application to ensure full SPF protection.

Each formula is enriched with Vitamins C and E. Sun exposure generates free radicals, which are unstable molecules that damage skin cells. Vitamins C and E are potent antioxidants that neutralize these free radicals, protecting the skin from oxidative damage and premature aging. Sun care infused with skincare, all year round.

Better for Your Skin and the Environment

PoolBar’s sunscreen sprays are built differently. Instead of traditional aerosol propellants, they use compressed air and a bag-on-valve system to release a smooth, even spray with no CFCs. The cans are made from recyclable materials and can be recycled again after use.

Every formula is Hawaii Act 104 compliant, meaning it is free from oxybenzone and octinoxate, the two chemical filters most harmful to coral reef ecosystems. PoolBar’s sprays can be used in Hawaii, taken into Hawaii, and will not be confiscated at customs. Reef-safe protection that does not come at the expense of the ocean you are swimming in.

The full spray range carries 80 minutes of water resistance as standard. Reapply every two hours and always after swimming, towel drying, or excessive sweating, regardless of the conditions you are in.

Sunscreen Spray - Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Sprays always need to be rubbed in after application to offer full SPF protection. Spray liberally onto the skin and rub in immediately. Do not spray directly onto the face. Spray onto hands first and then apply to the face.

PoolBar’s SPF Clear Sprays carry an 80 minute water resistance rating, the higher of the two FDA water resistance standards. This means the formula maintained its SPF value after two separate 20 minute periods of water immersion during testing. Reapply every two hours and always after leaving the water, towel drying, or excessive sweating.

PoolBar’s SPF Clear Sprays are fully Hawaii Act 104 compliant, meaning they are free from oxybenzone and octinoxate, the two chemical filters most harmful to coral reef ecosystems. They can be used in Hawaii, taken into Hawaii, and will not be confiscated at customs.

Do not spray directly onto the face. Spray onto your hands first and then apply to the face. PoolBar’s SPF Clear Sprays are suitable for face and body use when applied this way. For dedicated daily face protection, the Mineral SPF 50 Face Cream is specifically formulated for the face.

Yes, when applied correctly. The key difference is application method. Sprays need to be rubbed in after application to ensure an even, adequate layer of protection across the skin. Applied correctly, PoolBar’s SPF Clear Sprays deliver the same broad-spectrum High Protection as a cream formula.

SPF 30 blocks approximately 97% of UVB rays. SPF 50 blocks approximately 98%. The difference in percentage terms is small, but SPF 50 provides meaningfully more protection during extended sun exposure or on high UV index days. Both PoolBar spray formulas carry broad-spectrum certification for UVA and UVB protection. Neither replaces the need to reapply every two hours.
